Hard Rains
04:38
|
|||
Take me down to the edge of the river
To watch the banks be reshaped as it flows.
When I was young, all of life was a blanket.
Now I sleep shivering in the cold.
There will come hard rains,
And they may wash away
The things you thought you’d always know.
But there in your front yard,
The seeds of something else.
The ground begins to swell.
All will be well.
I’ve had teeth as long as I can remember,
But I keep dreaming that they’ll all fall out.
This whole year has been one long November.
When, oh Lord, will our March come around?
There will come hard rains,
And they may wash away
The things you thought you’d always know.
But there in your front yard,
The seeds of something else.
The ground begins to swell.
All will be well.
And the sun will always rise,
The leaves fall then regrow.
The change is there to show us a new road.
And as dark as I have been,
You will make me glow.
Take me down to the edge of the river
To watch the banks be reshaped as it flows.
This whole year has been one long November,
But I’m content to wait and see where it goes.

I Am New
04:09
|
|||
Like the final stage of a chrysalis,
Blossoming inside into colors it’s never known,
My heart churns.
Every blade of grass is alive in song.
If I listen close, I can hear it:
I am new! I am born again!
I’m nothing like I’ve ever been.
All those things I was caught up in
Are gone. I am bursting. I am new!
And nothing can separate me
From the love of the One who made me,
And no fear or regret can ever phase me.
No more winter, I am new.
Like a color dropped in a sea of white,
Like a skyline after the fog has been burned away,
I’m transformed.
